Data Collected by us
Logfiles
Our web server logs your IP address along with the date and the requested page.
These logs are deleted after seven days.
We need this data to combat abuse of our service and to create simple statistics like number of users per day.
To protect the service from abuse, we also count the checks per IP address. These counters are kept only in the
server's memory and are deleted after 24 hours at the latest.
Analytics
Apart from Logfiles, we do not collect any information. We do not use any Analytics system.
How a check works
The text you submit is checked on our own server, by our own installation of the open source software
LanguageTool. It is only held in memory while it is being checked and discarded afterwards:
we do not store it, we do not pass it on to anyone, and we do not use it for anything else.
Only in the rare case of an internal error of the checking software, the affected sentence may be written to a
technical error log, which is deleted after three days.
Cookies
This website itself sets only two cookies, and only when you use the corresponding function: the cookie
"ignores" holds the words you added to your ignore list, so they are not marked again; the cookie "picky"
remembers whether you chose the thorough check. They stay in your browser for 30 days and are only sent to
our server together with your requests.
Google AdSense (see below) sets cookies only after you have agreed to it in the consent dialog that is shown on
your first visit. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the privacy and cookie settings of
that dialog.
Usage of Google AdSense
On our website, we also use the functions of the online advertising service Google AdSense.
Google AdSense is a service of Google Inc. ("Google"), 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
Google AdSense is a Google service that displays Google advertisements from advertisers on third-party websites.
By integrating Google AdSense we provide Google with appropriate advertising space on our website.
Google AdSense uses so-called “cookies”, which are text files that are saved on your device and that enabled the website to conduct an analysis of the websites you visited.
Google AdSense may also use so-called web beacons (invisible graphics). Via these web beacons, information such as the visitor traffic on the pages of this offer can be evaluated.
The information generated by cookies and web beacons about the usage of our website (including your IP address) and the delivery of advertising formats will be transmitted to and stored by a Google server that might be located in the USA or other third countries.
This way, Google can reconstruct on which websites the usage of advertising media took place in order to be able to allocate a commission to the website operator.
